King Charles II

13 Broad St, Ross-on-Wye HR9 7EA, UK – 01989 219357

Great place. Great prices. Great food. The lady owner was very good with our son and kept him entertained for a good half hour. Friendly staff. Thank you

Nice pub and interior, friendly staff. I was drinking soft drinks so can't comment on the beer. I was there for lunch and ordered the Fish & Chips. The fish wasn't great unfortunately and didn't finish it, was quite grey in colour rather than white. I'd probably go back (ordering something else) but I'll try other places in the town first. Plenty of people in the pub eating so maybe mine was just a one off.

The Man Of Ross

Wye St, Ross-on-Wye HR9 7BS, UK – 01989 763111

Food to die for. If you are exceptionally brave, and accompanied, I can heartily recommend the fish platter sharer. I have what my wife describes as a "robust" appetite, and this guy beat us -Not once, but TWICE (we're not too proud to ask for doggy bags if overfaced-we continued our lunch later and STILL could not QUITE finish. Beer selection that I saw was very good, and the pint I had, I thoroughly enjoyed. Great, friendly staff and a pleasant outdoor seating area to watch the world go by.

Stopped in Ross on a canoe trip with my dad and brother. Welcome sight, and great meal. We had the seafood platter, which was superb, and the (I think it was) Wye valley pale was a very refreshing beer. Catches the sun on the front terrace in the sunset nicely!

The Mail Rooms

Gloucester Rd, Ross-on-Wye HR9 5BS, UK – 01989 760920

Well, what a lovely little spot for a Sunday brunch with friends. Warm, friendly and quiet environment, reasonably clean, acceptable service and the food is hearty and cooked well. Accessible entrance makes it good for wheelchair users, good prices, lovely little terrace outside and you can reserve seating. There's even gluten reduced options for people with sensitive tum tums 😉

We went in for cooked breakfast and unlimited coffee, was clean and tidy and we got our food served after only waiting 5mins.

Zam Zam Cafe

23 High St, Ross-on-Wye HR9 5BZ, UK – 01989 764030

Really lovely little restaurant. Quick and friendly service and the food was delicious. Fair prices too. I liked the BYOB element, kept the meal cheaper too ;). Portion sizes were just right for us. Not too much so didn't feel over faced. The korma even had a teensy bit of a kick to it to make it more memorable :) Would definitely go again.

Food is excellent but sadly not the place to go if you are wanting a nice quiet meal out. Can get very loud. More like a lads night out.

Wilton Court Hotel

Wilton Ln, Wilton, Ross-on-Wye HR9 6AQ, UK – 01989 562569

We have stayed with you several times before and every one has been a delight. The rooms are full of character, well equipped and comfortable. The restaurant, food and service are excellent. Above all the staff are efficient and friendly and you are made to feel as if you are at home. We will certainly be back for another short holiday in due course. Keep up the good work.

We had an excellent stay at the Wilton Court and the restaurant was also very good. On the first night (3 June) there was obviously a waiter/waitress who failed to arrive, the remaining manager coped extremely well albeit he was rushed off his feet! The next evening he had more time as he had some help! Overall it was excellent. Best wishes Tony Acton

Chinese Restaurants serving the Ross-on-Wye area

China Boy Jo

27 Gloucester Rd, Ross-on-Wye HR9 5LE, UK – 01989 563533

Good quality but expensive especially given the small portions

Best Chinese I have ever had, and I have had a lot of them. Very healthy, and great for vegans too

New Golden Horse

26 High St, Ross-on-Wye HR9 5BZ, UK – 01989 562671

The food is a bit hit and miss. Basic chow mein is ok but all the other dishes come with a sauce that looks like a strange luminous lifeform

Regular customer. Tasty food, good portion sizes, good value for money.

KFC

Ross Park, Netherton Road, Ross on Wye, Herefordshire HR9 7QJ, UK – 01989 562650

Great food, great customer service. Toilets weren’t great, too small by the design in the male’s toilets. Recommended.

Nice food. Good service and friendly atmosphere

Lovely food, great service. Only slight criticism is that the tables were a bit close together

No3 Restaurant

Beefeater Travellers Rest - Ross On Wye

Ledbury Rd, Ross-on-Wye HR9 7QJ, UK – 01989 563861

Kate and her team did me and my team proud on Saturday night. We had booked ahead but because of local events her staff were particularly busy. We were all impressed by their flexibility (some like me chose to to eat outside because it was so warm), their manner and attention to detail. The food was fabulous with a wide variety on the menu - the scallops were devine. A huge THANK YOU from the CFPD Wales disability cricket team. See you next year.

Was there on the 29th June. Very hot outside. Very very cold inside. 2 other people asked staff to move them as well. Please turn a.c. down. Staff pleasant. Good pricey

Wine Bars and Cocktail Bars

Leonards at 39

39 High St, Ross-on-Wye HR9 5HD, UK – 01989 567830

Quite liked the cool and trendy decor inside. The waiters were very polite and excellent in every way. The menu is not extensive but I didn't mind as this is not a proper sit down and eat kind of place.

Excellent drinks choice, staff are happy if you want to order "off-menu", tapas were excellent. Service was a little slow, but I suppose that's normal when you only have a small number of bar staff when it's busy. (Bar staff also seemed to favour serving women first, regardless of how long you've been waiting for a drink)
